Football Talk-in with Peter Beardsley & John Gibson
Back in the day when the Chronicle offices were in the Bigg Market and the presses thundered out three different newspapers day and night The Printers Pie was my watering hole. Many were the times I would meet a Newcastle player there for a snifter and to chew the fat.
Later keeping the newspaper theme it was called Fleet Street but sadly it closed back in 2015. Now nine long years and a £330,000 makeover later it is throwing its doors open again, the dream of successful businessman Andrew White who worked with me at the Chron in the nineties. It therefore had a place in his heart as it does mine.
Saturday will see Geordies return to one of their favourite party pubs and on Monday night to mark its rebirth Andrew and his team are putting on an special welcoming event. I will be hosting a night with Peter Beardsley, a true Newcastle United legend, one of the Entertainers, and Bobby Robson’s Italia 90 superstars.
Peter is in my humble opinion the most gifted all-round footballer in United’s illustrious 130-year history and you can wallow in Magpie nostalgia with some great stories from the inside for FREE. Up to 100 people can watch a top show on a first come first served basis with us on stage at 7.30pm. There will also be a goodie laden raffle held to benefit the Newcastle Food Bank. That’s a deal and a half!
