Fleet Street confirms throwback night as DJ Ross returns for floor filling party anthems!
Fleet Street will return to its party bar past next weekend, months after the Newcastle nightspot re-opened with a new look.
It might be a live music and real ale pub now but next weekend, Fleet Street will turn the clock back to its Newcastle party bar past, as a well known DJ from its 00s hey-day returns to the decks.
There was a lot of shock amongst people in the city when, nine years after the Pudding Chare venue shut down, with little hope of it ever re-opening; plans were announced for it to return, with new owners and a new look as a six figure sum was ploughed into its comeback. With regulars left stunned by just how different the bar looks now, with its interior, left as an empty shell, completely overhauled as its outsider also totally transformed, with a striking black and orange colour scheme.
Over the last few months, as well as welcoming a host of local musicians to entertain revellers, Fleet Street has also recruited ex Newcastle United stars to take part in post-match talk ins. But, on Saturday, October 19 it will make a return to how things used to be, with a throwback night.
The fun will get going at 8pm, with DJ Ross, the man responsible for providing the soundtrack to many people’s nights outs in the 00s on the decks. People who were regulars at Fleet Street 10-15 years ago will remember Ross for playing all the classics from I’m In The Mood for Dancing to the Steps megamix, Country Roads to Celine Dion’s I’m Alive and everything in between.
Exciting to be playing the tunes in Fleet Street again, Ross told ChronicleLive: “It’s fantastic to be asked to come back to my DJing home after my original run from 2002 to 2013. I was really surprised when Fleet Street reopened as I thought it was set for demolition! I’m really looking forward to seeing some of the old faces who lit the place up during my time there
And teasing what songs people can expect on throwback night, he added: “As far as music is concerned, you can expect all the same floor filling party anthems I used to play! Lots of sing a long tunes and hands in the air moments!!”
